Am I beautiful? Don’t compare yourself to others.

Gen 1:26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, and after our likeness: … 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

When it comes to self worth, we don’t have any right to compare ourselves to anyone but God. No one does.

We may think ourselves unworthy, not of value, incompetent or ugly because we don’t match up to our neighbor, friend, enemy, teacher, and/or elected official. Name the person you feel less than or subordinated by.

You are forgetting where you came from. You don’t have a right to compare yourself to others. God made you in His image. I am my father’s son, but I am God’s image. None of us has the right to compare ourselves to anyone but God.

We are not worthless. He wouldn’t have died for us if we were worthless. We are precious in His sight. You are precious in his sight. You are beautiful. Women, especially, have a problem with this. So many women don’t consider themselves beautiful.

In Matthew 4:3, Satan asked God, “The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus refused. Why? Well, a day or two before starting His fast, in Matthew 3:17 “And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’” If you heard a voice from heaven tell you who you are, would you doubt who you are?

Jesus had no doubt who he was. Heaven opened up and God called Him His Son. That hasn’t happened with anyone else I know in world history. So, for Satan to ask Him to question and prove His identity forty days later, well, that’s was just deceitful shrewdness on Satan’s part. Jesus didn’t fall for it. We should not fall for it either.

Jesus did not question His identity but we do. As God created the world, the three persons of God decided among themselves that you and I would be their image and likeness, both male and female. Why doubt it? What more of a life-job description do we need? Why compare yourself to anyone else but God? Take God at His word. His Son is His Word. Believe Him when He said, John 14:17 “…for he (the Holy Spirit) lives with you and will be in you.” 20. On that day, you will realize that I am in the Father and you are in me and I am in you.”

Each of God’s children will sit down with Christ on His throne (Revelation 3:21). Cherish and anticipate that day. Love and obey Him and you will be like Him. Read scripture daily. Tell Satan to bug off, in Jesus’ name.
